About Rob Mixon Up About Rob Mixon Publications Coaching

Aviation has commanded lifelong fascination for Rob Mixon of Miami, Florida. In aviation circles, Rob is known for his innovative approach to flight instruction in which he emphasizes the "feeling" one must have for being a part of the aircraft - in tune with its every nuance of sound and motion.  He blends both the "feeling" with the technical know-how of safe, professional flight.

He  has over 20,000 hours of flight time, is a Certified Flight Instructor in Airplane and Instrument, and holds Single Engine Land, Multi-Engine Sea and Land, and Airline Transport Pilot ratings.  Rob was honored in 1994 as Flight Instructor of the Year by the FAA.

Rob earned  AA and AS degrees in Education and Aerospace at Miami-Dade Community College; a BS in Elementary Education, and a Masters in Community Counseling from Barry University.  He was an adjunct professor at Miami-Dade College where he taught aviation meteorology and ground school. He has also been selected as Certified Flight Instructor of The Year by the Federal Aviation Administration's Flight Standards District Office, Miami, Florida. Rob Mixon is a member of the National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI), International Aerobatic Club (IAC), Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), Light Aircraft Flyers Association (LAFA) and American Bellanca-Champion Club.

In 2006 he moved his flight training from Miama, Florida to beautiful lake filled Highlands County Florida. He is based at Placid Lakes Airport, Lake Placid, Florida. Highlands County has multiple listings for lodging with white sandy beaches available for weekend or overnight stays. Walt Disney World is also nearby the rolling hills and orange groves of Highlands County!
